Regional Banknote of the Year 2019 Award for 15,000 Riel banknote

On October 29th, 2019, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) issued a 15,000 Riel Banknote to mark the 15th Anniversary of His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, the King of Cambodia's, ascension to the throne. The note has attracted a lot of attention for its touching design, but also for its technical prowess. It is the first note to have been designed and produced in its entirety at the NBC's Banknote Factory; the first Cambodian note printed on Landqart's Durasafe® substrate; the first such note to circulate in South East Asia; the first note to feature Hueck Folien's TRILUMIC® holographic foil.

This strong list of "firsts" was recognised by the selection panel for the Regional Banknote of the Year award, who duly felt the note warranted this prestigious prize. Presented during the Gala Dinner of the HSP Asia event in Yokohama, Japan, the award was presented by the Chairman of Reconnaissance International, Martyn White, and received on behalf of the National Bank of Cambodia by Antonio Riccio, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing of Landqart AG.
