Animal Products in Durasafe
There has been much written over the past few months about the presence of traces of animal fats in everyday objects where you would least expect them, for example certain banknotes. In Landqart we were pretty confident that none of our products contained these traces, but how to prove it? We reached out to a number of the International Standards agencies, but there isn’t a recognised standard for measuring these things. We considered self-certification, but that’s always fraught with uncertainty.
In the end, it was one of our employees, who pointed out that the Jewish and Muslim communities deal with these issues every day, and that perhaps we should learn from their example. So we did. And it worked. We are happy to announce that our paper-polymer-paper composite substrate, Durasafe®, has obtained Kosher and Halal certification, establishing, objectively and to internationally recognised standards, that it doesn’t contain animal products. One of the certificates even states that Durasafe® is fit for human consumption, but we do not recommend you eat it!
